“Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another: What! You too? I thought I was the only one.”

[C.S. Lewis]

TRAINING CAMP!! It’s December & I am finally getting around to writing this. I did have covid for most of November…hence the very late blog.

So, above I wrote the words that were on my mind at Training Camp. This “encounter” was common. Meeting new people is so much fun, especially at this moment. The moment when there is that commonality, the shared interest or passion for something.
“You like Downton Abbey? Me too!”

“You love Morgan Wallen? Me too!”

“You’ve played an instrument your whole life? Me too!”

“You bought that *insert world race gear*? Me too!”

“You like hiking? Me too!”

Each person is so different & the fact that we can share in one, or a few, or a lot of things is what creates friendships.

What stood out to me throughout this week was that with all of our similarities & differences, every person has at least one thing in common, & that is a love for Christ & the desire to serve. This was the “What! You too?” moment that brought us closer than anything else could. It’s different than a music preference or a similar hobby; it is a worldview, a shared purpose. That is why we all found ourselves there in Gainesville, Georgia together.

That bond opened the door for a lot of growth, trust, prayer, & friendship.

It pointed forward to the year we will spend together & excited all of us.

It demonstrated the strength of the body of Christ.
